Space Shuttle Thermal Protective Tile Sample

A Space Shuttle Thermal Protection Tile section from Lockheed Martin. These thermal protection tiles were installed on the Space Shuttle to protect it from high surface heat during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. These tiles were developed by Lockheed Martin Missile and Space Company. This 3 1/2" x 1"x 3/4" section of thermal tile is housed in a plastic display case with information sheet. It was given out as a complimentary souvenir by Lockheed Space Operations. It is in excellent condition with a light stain on one edge.
