John Glenn Signed Project Mercury “Man-In-Space” Cover
This is a Project Mercury 'Man-In-Space' event cover with the Patrick Air Force Base February 20, 1962 cancellation stamp. This cover has been hand signed by the first man to orbit the Earth, Astronaut John Glenn. He served as a backup pilot for Alan B. Shepard, Jr., and Virgil I. Grissom, who made the first two U.S. suborbital flights into space. Glenn was selected for the first orbital flight, Mercury-Atlas 6, and on February 20, 1962, his space capsule, Friendship 7, was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
This cover is in near mint condition and has a clear and bold signature.
